Why Taiwan?

Students in Taiwan are well-known around the world for their high test scores, particularly in science and math.  However, these high test scores often come at a price, from students giving up creative expression and social interaction due to pressures of studying, to students even committing suicide because they could not live up to familial or societal academic standards.  As Asian-American university students, many of us have undergone similar kinds of pressures, but as followers of Christ, we know a greater purpose behind life beyond our school work.

The purpose of this trip, then, is to relate this greater purpose of seeking God’s kingdom as well as salvation from failures (sin and otherwise) to Taiwanese students – in particular those in the high school level.  We will be working with the Glory Church located in Taipei on two projects, both teaching high school students English and training up the leaders within the church.
